Group Interventions

Group interventions that are run by Star Communicators including the following;

Lego Based Therapy

Typically used to support children with ASD, LEGO-based therapy promotes social interaction, turn-taking, sharing, and problem solving skills. LEGO-based therapy can be used to support children with their social skills, language skills and motor development. Through structured play sequences, children are able to work collaboratively in groups, while also developing their self-esteem within a positive and fun social setting.

Social Skills Groups

This program aims to support the development of social skills needed when forming relationships across daily routines. These include, conversational skills, sharing ideas and thoughts, appropriate mannerisms, understanding non-verbal cues, and age-appropriate play skills.

School Readiness Program

Our school readiness programs are run by a qualified Speech Pathologist and Occupational Therapist and aim to support your child in the following areas:

  • Attention and listening – This includes whole body listening strategies to support their ability to listen and focus in the classroom.
  • Language skills – including both receptive and expressive communication classroom skills. A focus on your child’s language skills will support them when expressing their needs and wants, as well as asking questions, listening and responding when in conversation.
  • Pre-literacy skills – including phonological awareness tasks targeting sound-letter recognition and matching. We also target the concepts of rhyming and counting syllables within a word.
  • Play and social communication – groups run with a maximum of 6 children allowing for targeted play activities
  • Gross and fine motor skills (Programs led by Occupational Therapist)
